Locast is now accessible in Portland, Oregon, and allows locals to watch local live TV stations for free via the internet. Portland’s entry comes just one week after Cleveland residents were granted access to the streaming service, marking the service’s second expansion in as many months.
Locast has been patient in its growth. The service debuted in 2018 and has gradually expanded to other places since then. However, the pace has sped up a bit in 2021. Madison (Wisconsin), Charlotte (North Carolina), Orlando (Florida), Sacramento (California), and, most recently, Cleveland have all launched the service this year.
Locast has now announced that it is now accessible to residents of Portland, making it the 31st area to get assistance. According to the statement, the new location support expands the service to three million more people in the Portland TV market, which includes 27 counties including Baker, Columbia, Jefferson, Sherman, Washington, and Yamhill. This is in addition to Clark, Cowlitz, Klickitat, Skamania, and Wahkiakum counties in Washington.
Residents in Portland can now watch 39 local TV stations for free via the internet thanks to Locast, including KGW NBC 8, KPTV FOX 12, KATU ABC 2, and KOIN CBS 6. This is in addition to networks such as PBS, Telemundo, CourtTV, The CW, and HSN.
Locast in Portland: Getting Started
Locast may be an excellent method to watch local news, sports, and weather coverage without having to worry about rising expenses or lost channels due to the growing difficulties of getting local channels via a subscription service. The service’s app is available for download on Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku, among other devices.
While Locast is free, a payment scheme is in place for individuals who desire a completely uninterrupted watching experience. Although a payment is not necessary to access Locast, if one is not made, the user may see a notice on the screen that stops the live broadcast. Donations start at $5 and are ongoing payments, so until the monthly payment is cancelled, anybody making a gift can expect to pay the same amount to Locast each month.
