The new Zenbook Nx500JK is a first-rate laptop for many reasons. It has an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and 512 gigs of storage with SSD support, making it lag free even on heavy loads. The 7th gen “Kaby Lake” series chipset provides the best performance in its class among other things that are worth mentioning too that make this machine one of the most powerful laptops you can buy today.
The Asus Zenbook NX500JK is one of the company’s newest Ultrabooks, with an all-aluminum chassis with a 19mm thickness and an Intel Quad-Core Haswell CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M discrete graphics processor. But it isn’t the Ultrabook’s major feature or highlight.
According to the manufacturer, the Zenbook NX500JK is the first laptop with a 15.6-inch touchscreen display with a 4K UHD resolution. To provide a more realistic and vivid color reproduction, it employs both Asus VisualMaster display technology and 3M QDEF (Quantum Dot Enhancement Film) technology.
The remainder of its features, specs, pricing, and availability can be seen further down. For your convenience, I’ve included a video review below.
Features of the Asus Zenbook NX500JK
The Asus Zenbook NX500JK (particularly, the NX500JK-XH72T) is a 15.6-inch Ultrabook featuring an Intel Core i7-4712HQ Quad-Core Haswell CPU running at 2.3GHz. The CPU is combined with 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L RAM and a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M graphics processor with 2GB of VRAM. However, this isn’t the Ultrabook’s main attraction. The NX500JK’s display is one of its most notable characteristics.
The Zenbook NX500JK has a 15.6-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 3840×2160, or 4K UHD. So, what’s all the fuss about 4K? What’s the difference, and how does it compare to a typical 15.6-inch 1080p display on a laptop or Ultrabook?
Despite having the same 15.6-inch display size as other laptops, notebooks, and Ultrabooks on the market, the NX500JK’s 4K (38402160) display resolution provides finer, more detailed, and clearer pictures and text.
Furthermore, since there are more pixels in the same 15.6-inch display, you will have more area to work with because the windows, icons, and everything else will seem smaller and finer than on a standard 1080p monitor. I understand that’s difficult to imagine, and the only way to appreciate 4K is to experience it in action. For your convenience, I’ve included a video review of the NX500JK below.
“Quantum dots (QD) or semiconductor nanocrystals may give an alternative for applications such as display technology,” says the manufacturer. In the same way as organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays provide light on demand, this display technology allows for more efficient displays.
Organic electroluminescent devices, unlike light-emitting diodes (LEDs), may be deposited across greater regions and on flexible or non-planar substrates. OLED-based large-area displays and general lighting devices are commercially available.
Light-emitting organic molecules, on the other hand, deteriorate over time and are vulnerable to dampness and oxidation. Quantum dots are suitable for flat-panel TV screens, digital cameras, mobile phones, and portable gaming devices because they can handle big, flexible displays without degrading.”
The Asus Zenbook NX500JK is equipped with a PCIe-based SSD that outperforms even the fastest SATA 6GBps SSD. When compared to SATA-based SSDs, expect quicker boot-up times and read/write operations (or even laptops with HDD).
It offers WiFi 802.11ac with Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, small Display Port, and other connections for communication. Check out the remainder of the table’s specs below.
